Rhetorical Analysis
An Analysis of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 2015 Wellesley College Commencement Address

This rhetorical analysis, written as my final project for the ENG 223: Rhetorical Strategies for Writers course, challenged us to choose a piece of media and analyze its appeals, theoretical frameworks and implications, and overall rhetorical strategies.

This piece was awarded the Mary Jo Priest Memorial Award in May 2021 by the Miami University Department of English. As one of three students awarded, this work represents Mary Jo Priest’s core values in her time at Miami and in her professional life: excellent students who demonstrate a passion for exceptional writing.

Healthcare Communications Research Project
Curating Compassion: The Role of Public Health Communication in Mental Health Promotion

In my ENG 310: Professional Communication for Healthcare, our final project was to research an aspect of healthcare communication that we were interested in and create a short report on our findings.

For this project, I chose to research the role that PR and public health communications can play in promoting positive mental health outcomes in our communities. This short report, designed in Canva, serves as an educational guide on how to craft effective public health communications to promote mental well-being and reduce the stigma around mental health in communities where it is prominent.

Cultural Research Project
Anti-Suicide Public Health Communications: A Comparative Analysis of the United States and South Korea

For my ENG 416: Writing for Global Audiences course, our final project challenged us to complete a research project on a chosen topic focused on intercultural communications.

Given my professional writing and psychology majors, I chose to research an intersection of the two fields: public mental health communications. In this project, I explored the differences in strategies used by the United States and South Korea to address the problem of suicide in each country, focusing on how the cultural considerations of each affect how they approach mental health issues in the public eye.
